New 3L Method 240SL Pack Gives Landholders A Practical Solution for Sticky Nightshade Control

Available to purchase in a 10L pack for broadacre and large-scale applications, Envu has now released a convenient 3L pack size, making Method 240SL more accessible for small landholders, hobby farmers and lifestyle property owners seeking effective woody weed control without the need to purchase larger commercial pack sizes.

Landholders battling the spread of Sticky Nightshade now have a proven solution, with Method® 240SL Herbicide delivering effective long-term control of one of Australia’s increasingly problematic invasive weeds.

Also known as Litchi Tomato (Solanum sisymbriifolium), Sticky Nightshade is a persistent invasive weed impacting rural, forestry and industrial areas across Australia. The weed competes aggressively with crops and pastures, reduces productivity, suppresses native vegetation and creates safety hazards for people, livestock, pets and wildlife due to its sharp prickles. Growing up to 1.5m tall, Sticky Nightshade is covered in sharp prickles with white or pale blue star-shaped flowers and bright red berries when ripe. Leaves are sticky, hairy and prickly on both sides. Prolific across NSW, including Western Sydney and the Central Tablelands, infestations have also been identified throughout the Central Coast, Southeast, Mid North Coast and Riverina.

Method 240SL is currently the only post-emergent herbicide in Australia registered for the control of Sticky Nightshade, providing landholders with a targeted solution for both rural and industrial vegetation management programs.

Method 240SL works through systemic synthetic auxin action, delivering control through both foliage and root uptake to disrupt plant growth from within. The herbicide’s easy-to-use, unscheduled formulation provides landholders with a practical option for treating infestations via foliar application.

The new 3L pack is particularly well suited to smaller acreage properties, fence lines, paddocks, horse properties, hobby farms and targeted spot spraying programs where infestations may be isolated or treated progressively over time. It also offers a more manageable and cost-effective option for landholders who may only require occasional applications or lower spray volumes, while still delivering professional strength control.

The new pack maintains the same registered control of more than 40 hard-to-manage weeds, including Sticky Nightshade, Lantana, Gorse and Blackberry, while offering a convenient option suited to spot spraying and smaller-scale applications.
