The Cooks River runs through the middle of Strathfield Golf Course. Rainfall like seen in November 2014 (14 rain days for a total of 170mm) sees high volumes of water through the course resulting in closing of the causeway under Centenary Drive, low level flooding and the deposition of large volumes of rubbish.
Cooks River requires regular cleaning after heavy rainfall events
Ponds on the course have suffered from algae problems these have been solved by the superintendent David MCGlynn using submerged straw bales in the water bodies.
